What will be covered in Traditional Music Lessons with Solomon Alber

Solomon Alber – “My lessons are structured in a way where there are distinct warm-ups that I teach to all my students. These warm-ups are meant to help you strengthen and build your sound foundation after each practice session. Then, I will typically move onto some exercises and technique books that I work through with all my students. The reason that I go through these exercises with you is that they not only train our muscle memory, but they also give us a wealth of ideas we can later play around with during improvisation. The rest of the time is dedicated to practicing the approaches of Speaking Music as a means of learning new songs and repertoire and for the students who show interest in Jazz, I guide students in several unique approaches to listening in a band and improvising fluidly. If you would like to learn more and view a sample of Solomon Alber’s ClefNotes Book Series, visit the Our Method page.

In private lessons, I introduce you to my whole method for improvising and composing music. I also walk you through exactly how I use each approach using specific tunes that are most common and well known in the jazz community as examples.

I hope that this gives you a better idea about what I like to touch upon when I teach music lessons and if this seems like a lot to read, I typically dedicate a portion of the first lesson to running through the structure of lessons with all new students. After listening to a student, I can better place where our starting point should be to best hit the ground running.” Visit our Booking Calendar to sign up for your lessons.
